As part of the 8-original albums re-releases by Universal Japan, instead of reissuing the original album only, the 2003 deluxe edition of the 1979 album was chosen to be reissued in cardboard sleeve "Mini-LP".
The full-color booklet included is the same as used in 2003, but carries the Japanese catalog number in addition to the original one.
Disc 1 features the original album, as issued in double vinyl in 1979 plus the demo version of the title track.
Disc 2 features 12" mixes, mostly originally collected together on 1987's "The Dance Collection".
The Japanese-only reissue was issued with:
- two 2012 remastered SHM-CD housed in round-ended rice paper inner sleeves,
- an OBI strip replica,
- a 'mini-LP' gatefold cardboard sleeve replica on thick cardboard,
- the 2003 deluxe edition color booklet
- a black & white fold out leaflet with liner notes and lyrics in Japanese,
- a resealable clear outer protective sleeve, with golden 'SHM-CD' sticker,
- note: according to the Japanese booklet Universal Japan used the 2003 US remaster for this reissue.
The "Walk Away" 12-inch version on CD 2 is the mono version as on the 2003 remaster. According to the Japanese booklet, this 2012 edition indeed uses the same US 2003 remaster and therefore no correction of this fault. This is clearly a major production fault during the mastering process in 2003. But apart from the mono fault on this track, it's not clear why Universal didn't include the full-length promotional version of 8:30 minutes.
The 12-inch version of "Mac Arthur Park Suite" is a slightly different mix from Donna Summer's LIVE AND MORE album version. It's not clear why Moroder/Belotte made these alterations in 1978 for the 12-inch version (which was a US promo release only). Perhaps Casablanca wanted to promote the single "Heaven Knows" in the clubs by including the longer single mix in the promo 12-inch version of "Mac Arthur Park Suite" (by sacrificing a part of "One Of A Kind"). The 7-inch version of "Heaven Knows" combines the vocals from the LIVE AND MORE album with the instrumental track from Brooklyn Dreams' SLEEPLESS NIGHTS album (on which Joe Esposito sings the lead vocal and Brooklyn Dreams sing the chorus). Bob Esty arranged and produced the album and also mixed the 7-inch version of "Heaven Knows" (including the horn section break).
