If credited that way on unofficial releases, please use instead. EMI Music Canada ceased its operations after it was acquired by the Universal Music Group in September 2012. Its successor is Universal Music Canada Inc.. It included a manufacturing facility inherited from Capitol Records-EMI Of Canada Limited and which was renamed to EMI Music Canada in 1993. The vinyl pressing and tape duplication plant was opened next door to the offices in June 1976. It had 17 presses for albums and seven presses for singles. The plant started production with singles only in June and began pressing albums in October 1976. The plant stopped pressing vinyl on July 13, 1984 but did continue its tape duplication operations. The CD pressing plant was built between Dec. 1994 and Aug. 1995. It closed Feb 20, 2007. Glass mastering was not done at the plant – The negative imprinted “stampers” were delivered to the plant so that replication could be undertaken by them. EMI Music Canada ultimately had two dual line CD replication units, enabling one line to manufacture two different selections at a time. A total of 11.3 million units were being manufactured annually by Fiscal '98.
