PHD was an American hip-hop duo from Queens, New York, consisting of Blaq Poet aka The Poet and DJ Hot Day. Emerging in the early 1990s, they were known for their gritty, street-focused lyrics and hard-hitting production. Their 1991 album Without Warning gained underground recognition, showcasing their raw depiction of life in Queensbridge. Though short-lived as a group, PHD played a role in shaping the hardcore East Coast rap sound, with Blaq Poet later joining Screwball and continuing his career as a solo artist.
