A visual-kei band from Nagoya, Japan, whose lineup ranged from 4-6 musicians. The band was founded in 2008 by drummer Mio and bassist Eve under 清水屋商店. Their style of music throughout their years was mainly a mix of heavy metal, alternative rock, and a hint of jazz, especially towards the end of the band.
They gained attention from their first two singles (their debut and the second single that followed), and were able to be included in a compilation and perform live the same year that the band was formed. The next year, they released their first mini-album and played more live shows alongside other bands, along with being able to release more singles. 2010, however, was both a happy and sad year for Lycaon. On the good side, Lycaon was able to release their first full-length album. But, on the other side, the two founding members decided to leave due to musical differences arising in the band. When the two left, the style of music changed from metal roots to softer jazz influences.
Continuing on with their new music style after finding a new drummer and a new bassist, Lycaon released their second full-length album in 2011. Along with the release of other singles, they performed more live shows with other bands like DIAURA and -OZ-. Their live performances really took off, however, when they performed a national tour with a total of 44 shows across Japan in 2012.
In 2013, the band left their original label, 清水屋商店, and established their own label, Vogue Entertainment. Their activity went on until 2015, when they ultimately decided to disband.
A year later, however, the former band members of Lycaon formed Initial'L.
