Alternative Rock band formed in 1991 in Athens, Greece. Their name is a misspelling of the name of Ukrainian physiologist Alexander A. Bogomolets (1881-1946) who made research on life extension, producing also a serum of the same name.
Its members met in 1991 at the Polytechnic University, where they were studying architecture. After a period of experimentation, during which they made a few live appearences (1992-93), their line-up finalized with with singer Dimitris Ioannou, guitarists Kostas Ragousis and Evi Fraggedaki, bassist Lila Katerinaki and drummer Vlassis Karagiannis. This line-up lasted for a decade.
Their debut album, “Xero” (1995) was hailed by critics of the time as one of the best Greek English-language albums of recent years. The band soon gained a reputation for their live shows in the Athenian scene. Their next four releases were made by Hitch Hyke: “Insect (songs)” (mini-LP, 1997), “Jet Lag” (2LP 1997) recorded at Steve Albini’s studio in Chicago, “Slowburner” (CD, 1999) for which they collaborated with Coti K. and “Exit: Trance” (2003) again with Albini, this time at Black Box, in western France. Shortly before the release of the last album, Evi left the band.
On 13/7/1996 they performed live at 'Rock Of Gods' (Piraeus) along with Violent Femmes, Jesus And Mary Chain', 'Paradise Lost', 'Dead Moon' & 'Bad Religion'. On 16/7/1998 they performed at 'Rockwave Festival' (Piraeus) along with 'Pulp', 'Sonic Youth', 'Closer (2)', 'Puressence' & Τα Ξύλινα Σπαθιά. They performed live at Indie Free Festival (Athens) in 1992, 1993 & 2010.
In 2008, the band re-appeared with Tasos Protopapas (keyboards and loops) and Christina Kassesian (guitar) being added to the group. Bokomolech released the album “Mass Vulture”, in February 2012, on Greek label Inner Ear.
