Sérgio Sampaio

Sérgio Moraes Sampaio (Cachoeiro de Itapemirim, April 13, 1947 – Rio de Janeiro, May 15, 1994) was a Brazilian singer and composer. He became famous in the country's popular music scene for his elaborate poetry combined with his talent for creating compositions in samba, bolero, rock, blues, and other musical genres. Having achieved his greatest visibility in the national artistic scene during the 1970s, his erratic career was also punctuated by self-destructive attitudes and conflicts with record labels — earning him the label of "cursed" that also accompanied other names in MPB.
