Founded in 2006 German-based synth-pop group THE SWEEPS shares a deep fascination for analog synthesizers, 70s string machines, the Fender Rhodes E-Piano and drumcomputers from the 80s.
Original group members are Kristina Brodowski (vocals), Christoph `Dav´ Duwe (keyboards, programming, (backing) vocals) and Niels `Wes´ Wesner (keyboards, (backing) vocals).
Later on they were joined by vocalists Johanna Hanf (2011-2013) and Lena Götze (since 2014).
After the sudden and unexpected death of their founding member and mastermind Christoph Duwe in February 2021, Stefan Bornhorst (aka The Silicon Scientist) became a new member in March 2021 (on keyboards & programming).
The group has released 11 CDs so far - 10 studio albums and a 2 CD-compilation in 2014 (all by self-distribution).
Furthermore they put together 4 compilations (available digitally on all streaming and download platforms): THE WAY WE WERE & THE WAY WE WERE 2 (both in 2021), MUSIC SURVIVES (December 2023) and MUSIC SURVIVES 2 (May 2025).
Other releases include 12"s (Flashback Records) and 7"s, compilations (ZYX/Nova) or digital remixes (Emerald & Doreen / Girlfriend Records / Retro Promenade).
