Nilze Carvalho (born 1969) is a Brazilian singer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist known for her work in choro and samba. She began playing the cavaquinho at the age of five and recorded her first album series, "Choro De Menina," between the ages of 11 and 14. During her teenage years, she toured internationally across Europe, the Americas, and Asia. In 2000, she co-founded the samba group Sururu na Roda, which won the Prêmio da Música Brasileira for Best Samba Group in 2014. Her solo career includes the album "Estava Faltando Você" (2005), nominated for a Prêmio TIM, and "Verde Amarelo Negro Anil" (2014), which received a Latin Grammy nomination. In 2018, she celebrated 40 years in music with a live DVD recording. Nilze Carvalho remains an active performer and recording artist.
