US country rock band from Nashville, Tennessee, active during the late 1960s and early 1970s. The band took its name from a telephone area code for Central / Eastern Tennessee. Both their albums were recorded at Cinderella Sound Studios in Madison Tennessee. The band's members were also session musicians in Nashville, backing Linda Ronstadt on her 14772 album (1970) and working with Bob Dylan on 4550 (1969). Some had already worked with Dylan on 3773 (1966). Their track Stone Fox Chase was used by the BBC as theme tune for The Old Grey Whistle Test, whilst their version of Classical Gas was used in Guinness commercials.
