Luther Kent

American blues singer, born June 23, 1948 in New Orleans, Louisiana - died August 16, 2024. Sometimes known as Big Luther Kent or Amos Kent, and as Duke Royal, he was a fixture on the New Orleans music scene since the mid-1960s. He spent most of the mid- to late 1960s singing with The Greek Fountains. He toured with Blood, Sweat And Tears from 1974 until mid-1976. In 1978, he joined Charles Brent, the former musical director for Wayne Cochran, forming a large New Orleans horn band named Luther Kent & Trick Bag. Inducted into The Louisiana Hall Of Fame and The Louisiana Blues Hall Of Fame.
