Musique d’été

From the liner notes: A. SUMMER MUSIC 2. This is the sound/model of a new urban sound instrument (N.I.S.U.). If one imagines it intervening daily and briefly in a public space (being its acoustic mark) one can follow it, here, almost endlessly and refine one's listening until grasping its internal complexity, or, on the contrary, let it unfold as a "fundamental" on which the listener will be able to build his or her own compositional relationships. (BERN 31.08.83) The elements of the sound material were realized during a training course at IRCAM. B. SUMMER MUSIC 1. The distinct sound of the horn above the hubbub - wind rustling in the leaves of trees - background noise almost similar to that of the city and some other sounds gathered or scattered, marking space and time... Sound recording on 18.08.78 in Lüdernalp (Emmenthal) mixed with the recording of "each one" for alpine horn made on 07.07.78 in the woods of Liancourt (Somme), the microphones (Beyer M 88N) placed at 60 m from the bell of the instrument (tape recorder Uher 4200). Alphorn, Pierre MARIETAN assisted to the recording of Thierry MARIETAN. Adjust the intensity of the sound at the same level, if not just above the background noise specific to the place of diffusion.
