Notes

A CBS Odyssey reissue of the French Harmonia mundi release, "Musique à Naples : 1715-1730" (HM 596), originally issued in 1965. Also available in a mono version; Odyssey 21 16 0015. The Domenico Scarlatti Sinfonias are contained in a bound folio at the Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris and are 17 in number. The numbering on the Odyssey release -- "No. 1, No. 2, No. 3" -- is for used for convenience and does not appear on the original HM release. They correspond to Nos. 12, 15 and possibly No. 14 in the manuscript. All 17 "Sinfonias" served as opera overtures, but only two have been traced to their original operas. One of these is here; No. 1/12 was the overture to "Amor d'un ombra e gelosia d'un'aura", produced at Rome in 1714.
