Que

NY label that began in late spring (April/May) of 1957 and had it's offices in Flushing, Long Island. This is not to be confused with a Que Records out Houston that doesn't appear to be on Discogs yet. It appears that they were acquired sometime in 1958 by United Artists Records as seen on this release Dixie By The "7" (Blowin' Hot And Blue). They produced 45's, 10" as well as 12" LP's. Bill Hill, veteran record man, was Vice-President and General Sales Manager of the indie label and Tony Mottola was the Musical Director for the line. By late summer they were being distributed all over the country from 23 cities and one in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Their opera/classical line used the prefix "CLS," their Festival Series used the prefix "FLS," their jazz releases used the prefix "JLS" and their 45's used the "Q-."
