Originally German label, later Czech label. Motto: Ultraphon spiegelt den Ton (in Czech: Ultraphon věrný tón) The name Ultraphon first appeared in Heinrich J. Küchenmeister’s Heinrich J. Küchenmeister & Co. KG in 1925 and later with Deutsche Ultraphon Aktiengesellschaft (aka Duag). Since April 1929 Duag was under control of N V Küchenmeister's Internationale Ultraphoon Maatschappij Berlin-Amsterdam (aka Intraphoon). After Duag declared bankruptcy in 1931, the German catalog was acquired by Telefunken. In 1932, the Czech label branch was bought by Ravitas, spol. s r.o., which had already been producing and distributing Ultraphon records in Czechoslovakia since 1929. In 1933, Ravitas was transformed into Ultraphon, akciová společnost pro průmysl a obchod gramofonový based in Prague. The company owned the rights to the Ultraphon (only in Czechoslovakia) and “Supraphon” trademarks (worldwide, except in the Netherlands and its colonies). In 1945, Ultraphon was nationalized in Czechoslovakia (Beneš decrees - 100/1945 Sb.) and incorporated into a new company, Gramofonové Závody, národní podnik, based in Prague. After that, a new label Supraphon U was created where the "U" stands for Ultraphon. The Czech Ultraphon catalog consists of well over 3000 shellac records. It was incorporated into Supraphon after World War II, with many historical recordings eventually being transferred to tape and reissued on vinyl LPs until the late 1980s. The recording dates of Ultraphon matrix numbers until 1932 are, as follows: 10000 - 10014 = ? Feb. 1929 10015 - 10084 = Mar. 1929 10085 - 10125 = April 1929 10129 - 10133 = May 1929 10134 - 10158 = Jun. 1929 10217 - 10243 = Jul.1929 10244 - 10308 = Aug. 1929 10309 - 10324 = Sep. 1929 10325 - 10388 = Oct. 1929 10423 - 10502 = Nov. 1929 10503 - 10581 = Dec. 1929 10582 - 10636 = Jan. 1930 10637 - 10705 = Feb. 1930 10706 - 10832 = Mar. 1930 10833 - 10883 = April 1930 10894 - 10977 = May 1930 10978 - 11041 = Jun. 1930 11042 - 11155 = Juli 1930 11156 - 15069 = Aug. 1930 15070 - 15213 = Sep. 1930 15214 - 15445 = Oct. 1930 15446 - 15754 = Nov. 1930 15875 - 15970 = Dec. 1930 15971 - 16085 = Jan. 1931 16086 - 16208 = Feb. 1931 16214 - 16373 = Mar. 1931 16374 - 16447 recorded March, April & June 1931 16449 - 16455 recorded March, April & June 1931 16456 - 16641 = April 1931 16706 - 16806 = May 1931 16807 - 16898 = Jun. 1931 16899 - 16970 = June & July 1931 17012 - 17067 = July 1931 17068 - 17100 = July & Aug. 1931 18000 - 18012 = Aug. 1931 18141 - 18166 = Nov. 1931 18169 - 18200 = Dec. 1931 18201 - 18204 = Jan. 1932 18205 - 18244 = Feb. 1932 Recorded by Telefunken but partially still released on the Ultraphon label: 18245 - 18287 = Mar. 1932 18288 - 18344 = April 1932 18345 - 18393 = May 1932
