Congolese distribution and publishing company, based in Léopoldville (called Kinshasa since 1966). Full name: Edition Congolaise du Disque. It belonged to the constellation of companies chaired by Eugène Willy Pelgrims de Bigard, who by the mid-sixties had a quasi-monopoly in Congo. Through its sister companies Fonior and Sofrason it was also a provider of Congolese music for the European market and (former) French colonies. For this purpose labels such as and African were established. Ecodis also established contacts with other African distributors for the purpose of releasing recordings from the Fonior catalogue throughout the continent. A manufacturing branch called Macodis (Manufacture Congolaise du Disque) was founded in 1955. In 1971 it became (Manufacture Zaïroise du Disque). Although the company operated a recording studio in Kinshasa, many recordings for the Ecodis labels took place in the superior in Brussels (Belgium). Among the local labels represented by Ecodis in 1970 were: Edition Bazengumuna, Benda Bika, Boboto, Bolingo, Bomengo, CEFA, , Epanza Makita, Editions Populaires, Edition Viclong, , Paka-Siye, Tcheza, Geomas, Isa, Kabaselle, Kaem, Ebale Mbonge, Landa-Bango, Londende S.C.P.R.L., Makinu, Editions Malembe, Molunge, Mopepe, Mosaka, Editions Mozindo, Nga Sie, Ngonga Ya Bankoko, Nzambi, Editions Obam, Patenge, Payne, Editions Pourquoi-Pas!!, Réveillon, Edition Salongo, Sukisa, Sukuma, Tobina Editions, Tshondo Editions, Editions Veve, Editions Ves, Vita, Edition Vouma, , Ya-Tous. Ecodis was also an exclusive distributor in the Democratic Republic of Congo for several major international labels, including Decca and those from The Gramophone Co. Ltd. group.
