Henry Lemoine & Cie is a French music publishing house, headquartered in Paris and operated as a family-owned business for over 230 years (currently managed in the seventh generation). The corporation claims its foundation date as 1772, when Antoine Lemoine's father opened his A l'Espérance ("to Hope") music retail shop in Paris. In 1793, Antoine took over the business (presumably, after Lemoine Père's death). Circa 1805/06, the first original scores under the "Lemoine" imprint came out. Over the following years, the publisher was active under several names and brands, most notably Editions Henry Lemoine and Éditions Lemoine. The current holding entity, "Henry Lemoine Cie," was incorporated in November 1954. Besides its massive original catalog, Lemoine acquired several other leading French publishers: Delrieu (in 1998), Van de Velde (2002), Beuscher (2006), Editions Jobert (2007), and Editions Combre (2010).
