Divorce

Label active from 1999-2014 Divorce started releasing short run, DIY albums way back in 1999. The label grew from a dissatisfaction with the ‘music industry’ and its overemphasis on music as a consumer product. Whether it is punk, noise, avant-rock or bent-folk, we try to be diverse, putting out whatever music truly pleases us. And although efforts are made to be sustainable, Divorce is all about exposing great music, not about taking in fistfuls of cash. We are slowly growing through the years. Releases are being issued in bigger runs, many of the current bands/artists tour regularly, good things are being written about the albums, and our distribution is beginning to have reach. But despite the changes, we continue to model Divorce on the spirit and ethic of the DIY label tradition.
