Studios Fonior-Decca

Recording and mastering studios in Brussels (Belgium) of the Fonior group. As Fonior was Decca's exclusive representative in Belgium, the studio was commonly referred to as the Decca studio. There were four studios. A larger studio for orchestral recordings was located at the company's headquarters at the Quai des Charbonnages. A smaller studio was located near the Central Station. The main studio opened in 1942in an old cabaret at the Chaussée de Jette and comprised a studio A and B. By the early seventies, the recording studio was 8, 16 and 24 track. The cutting rooms were equipped with Neumann and Ortophone installations for both mono and stereo cuts. In 1980 Fonior and parent holding IPG went bankrupt and the studio at the Chaussée de Jette was sold to Adamo in 1981. The link with Fonior and Decca now being lost, the studio started to be known as Jet Studio, after the street name. In 1986 the studio was taken over by Erwin Vervaecke and in 1997 by Staf Verbeeck.
