In Japanese: 株式会社ソニー・ミュージックダイレクト
An in-house record label of Sony Music Labels (SML), it handles the production and sales of special projects utilizing audio and video content owned by the Sony Music Group. In addition to reissues of previously released works, the label releases compilation albums that span multiple labels.
The label was established in 1996 as Sony Music House Co., Ltd. following a spin-off from the Sony Family Club business; the fact that its catalog numbers begin with “MH” (Sony Music House) is a remnant of that history.
On April 1, 2022, it transferred some of its operations to Sony Music Marketing United, and the corporation itself was dissolved through a merger with Sony Music Labels. At the same time, its music and other label operations were transferred to Sony Music Labels’ in-house label division.
