Recording studio started in 1970 in Nashville, Tennessee, USA In 1969, both Columbia/CBS studios were extremely busy. Their artists were having difficulty in booking studio time. A decision was made to quit offering the studios to outside clients. This left Mercury Records and other labels in a bind. A group of Nashville businessmen along with former Columbia engineer, Tom Sparkman, would build Mercury Custom Recording in 1970. The studio was later named Sound Stage Studios. Also appears as Mercury Custom, Nashville, Tennessee
