Island Records' own dedicated record pressing plant (and occasionally contracted for other labels).
Established on 18 December 1974 after an acquisition, the plant opened in June 1975 and was operating until December 1977. It was then sold to WEA and renamed WEA Records Pressing Plant, West Drayton.
The legal entity 'Island Records Manufacturing Limited' was incorporated on 30 April 1974 and dissolved on 14 June 1991; this was a wholly-owned subsidiary of Island Records Ltd.
Pressings (or repressings from existing masters) can be recognised by etched identifiers in the runout area: "I - #" or "Ⅰ-#", where # is a number (mother).
Note: "I - #" and "Ⅰ-#" are not PPIDs and should not be entered in the BaOI.
12"s and LPs can normally be recognized by the dipped pressing rings: 33 mm inner ring + 70 mm outer ring + a depression at the outer label edges.
