Former German CD/DVD/Blu-ray manufacturing company located in Alsdorf, near Aachen, Germany. The pressing plant has a long tradition and was founded as vinyl manufacturer Record Service GmbH in 1975. The predecessor was Warner Music Manufacturing Europe (manufacturing plant: WMME Alsdorf), which was sold by AOL Time Warner in July 2003 to the Canadian company Cinram. WMME was renamed to Cinram on 1 November 1, 2003 and registered on 24 November 2003. Due to insolvency the production of CDs, DVD and Blu-rays stopped 31 July 2017. On November 1, 2017, packaging company Avos Bielefeld purchased part of the production facilities from the insolvent Cinram. What remained continued under the name of Avos Logistics GmbH and included the printing (Werk 3), logistics and parts of the packaging sections (Werk 5 & 6). The media pressing equipment (Werk 1 & 4) was sold at an online auction on November 7//8, 2017. CD matrices can be identified as follows: 1. A letter and two numbers after the 9+1(.# or /#) MM/YY imatrix string (late 2003 - late 2004). Examples: – 755962905-2 11/03 V01 (This Is Not a Test!) – 756793423-2 10/04 V01 (Afrodisiac). Releases that have a glass mastering month of 12/03 onwards can be credited to Cinram GmbH, as the WMME to Cinram transition had already been completed. 2. A 'CD' before the 9+1(.# or /#) V01 matrix string (late 2004 - early 2007). Examples: – CD 936242769-2 V01 (Boulevard of Broken Dreams) – CD 5051011945120 V01 (Wincing The Night Away) – CD 756791372-2.4 V01 (Cowboys From Hell) 3. Three letters after the 9+1(.# or /#) V01 matrix string (early 2007 to closure in 2017). Examples: – 256468068-3 V01 DTD (Angel Dust) – 256465705-8 V01 ANW (I Follow Rivers) – 936249140--4 V01 XBC (Emperor of Sand). Note 1: For CDs with 10/03 or 11/03 month in the matrix refer to the artwork: credit WMME where 'Made in Germany by Warner Music Manufacturing Europe' is printed; credit Cinram GmbH when 'Made in the EU' or 'Manufactured in the EU' appears. If in doubt, please open a thread in the forums. Note 2: Be aware that the V01-style codes with a letter and two numbers after the matrix string are not exclusive to Cinram GmbH but were already introduced by WMME in late 2002. Please don't credit Cinram GmbH only based on the V01 codes. Mastering SID codes: IFPI L011, IFPI L012, IFPI L013, IFPI L014, IFPI L015, IFPI L016 & IFPI L017 Mould SID codes: IFPI 05** These codes are indicative only as they have also been used by predecessors and successors. LCCN roles: Glass Mastered At - with IFPI L01* present Pressed By - with IFPI 05** present
