Orbi-Vox, S. A.

Mexican record company founded in late 1968/early 1969 by Arturo Valdés de la Peña (President), Isaac J. Cherem and Alfonso Cuevas. Manuel Vital was head of sales and promotion. The company was only active until 1970/1. At the start, Orbi-Vox licensed, pressed and distributed international material from Major Minor (UK), Ranwood (US), Monument (US), and South American labels. Later material was recorded in Mexico at its own studios, aiming at the export market. The company had three home labels: Fresa, VC and Jade. VC was the main line for catalog and new material; Fresa developed only new material; and Jade was the company's budget label, initially only releasing Latin sounds. Several Major Minor artists were put out on the Fresa label in LP format, and on the VC label as 4-track 7" EPs and 7" singles. Monument artists were put out under the Monument label with two catalogue numbers.
