Recording studio in Los Angeles, California, USA. Originally called Poppi Studios, in September 1971 the facility was purchased by Motown founder Berry Gordy and renamed MoWest Studios. This coincided with the founding of the MoWest label and was part of Motown's move from Detroit (where it operated the Hitsville USA Studios) to Los Angeles. By 1974 the move was complete and the studio became Motown/Hitsville U.S.A. Recording Studios.
