Zefa

Former German international stock photography/ picture agency with headquarters in Düsseldorf. Abbreviation of "Zentrale Farbbild Agentur". See also: Zefa (as artist). Founded in 1956 in Heidelberg as Zentrale Farbbild Agentur (ZFA), under the umbrella of the V-Dia publishing house. The agency moved to Düsseldorf in 1964, abbreviated as ZEFA since 1969. In the 1980s, it was one of Europe's largest picture agencies. Change of name to Zefa Visual Media GmbH, taken over by the US photo agency Corbis (2) in December 2004.
