Syliart

Civil society created by the government of Guinea in July 1971 to subsidize and regulate the works of authors and producers in the Republic of Guinea. Granted a capital of two million Guinean CFA francs, this society was to operate on revenue derived from authorship rights, receipts from productions, artistic and cultural shows, and state grants. It was also to provide pensions for retired artists. In May 1973, Syliart was replaced by the "Agence guinéene de spectacles" (Guinean Entertainment Agency), a public institution under the Ministry of Youth, Arts, and Sports. After 1984, this organization no longer existed.
