Jazz bassist, born February 17, 1924 in Hope, Arkansas, died 2000. Burgher "Buddy" Jones, whose career as a professional musician spanned six decades, played with Charlie Ventura (1947) and Joe Venuti (1949), Buddy DeFranco (1951), Lennie Tristano, Stan Getz, and Charlie Parker, a close friend. He played on Jack Sterling's CBS radio program 1952-1964. After playing on TV in Hollywood for some time, he returned to New York, working with Bobby Hackett, Al Cohn, and Bill Watrous.
