Louis Cruz

Puerto Rican, NYC based, pianist and arranger of salsa style and latin jazz. Heavily featured on Fania Records releases. Also appears as José Luis or Louie Cruz. Son of Luis Cruz (15). Born in February 27, 1939 in Santurce, Puerto Rico. He began playing piano in his father's group. Then in orchestra of Willie Rosario. He was the pianist of Ray Barretto's band per years. He was also a prolific arranger of many salsa songs for other recognized artists. In the late 80's he began to work as pianist in La Sonora Matancera. Died in August 20, 2015.
