Piotr Kłosek's discography with cataloged releases, editions, and credits
Born 1957 in Warszawa, died June 7, 2024 in Grodzisk Mazowiecki. Polish photographer and graphic designer, known among other things for his record cover projects and promotional photos for jazz, classical, and popular music artists. He was a member of the Związek Polskich Artystów Fotografików. His adventure with photography began in the 1970s, when as a high school student he experimented with special techniques such as isohelia, collage, and coloring of monochromatic prints. During this time, he began collaborating with the PolJazz, for which he created covers and documented concerts. In the 1970s, he was also the author of many promotional photos for the Polskie Stowarzyszenie Jazzowe and the PAA Pagart. From 1981, he was a member of the ZAiKS Authors' Association. During the period of martial law in Poland, his longing for color led him to create a unique technique: painting on black-and-white photographs using transparent Ecoline inks. With this method, he created the cover for the first edition of Tomasz Stańko's album, C.O.C.X. (1985). From 1987 to 1990, Kłosek served as head of the photography department at the Polskie Nagrania “Muza”. During this period, he took photos for the covers of albums by such prominent composers and artists as Witold Lutoslawski, Krzysztof Penderecki, and Andrzej Hiolski. He also collaborated on creating covers for jazz and popular music artists, such as Metamorphosis. From 1989, he worked with the Pomaton record label, for which he designed and created the album covers for Mury w Muzeum Raju, Live Character, and Kamienie. In 1993, he used the photographic collage technique to create the famous cover Ja Pana W Podróż Zabiorę. In later years, Piotr Kłosek focused on advertising photography, press photojournalism, and album photography.
