American funk band from Chicago, Illinois. Founded in 1962 or 1964. Disbanded in 1978. The band was formed between college friends and went on to back some of the city's artists such as Otis Clay, Garland Green and Syl Johnson. Initially they were managed by Mel Collins. When the group weren't touring with some of Mel's acts they found time to release a single on his Gamma label. Their second manager Pervis Staples made them tour as backup band for The Emotions, and helped them to a contract at Stax, for which they recorded an unreleased album, though Stax did release 2 singles.Their third manager, local promotor Ken Freeman got them signed to Capitol, but though they recorded a second album for them, that also remained unreleased. After they were dropped from Capitol they self-financed the recording of a third album, which finally saw the light of day in 2018. Members:
