Paul "Polo" Bellemare is a Canadian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist born in Montreal on September 21, 1956 and died in the same city on March 17, 2025.
He got the thirst to join a band after seeing the New York Dolls in 1974. It wasn't long before Polo joined his his first band Danger. Several other groups later he reappeared with Dédé Traké ,in the late 80's, for a series of shows in Europe and Quebec.
In 1993 he joined with Thibaud de Corta to form Les Frères À Ch'val, touring extensively.
In 2000 he had a change of scene and along with his partner Denis "screw" Lavigne wrote the music for the movie soundtrack "Naughty Party". In 2002 Polo released a solo album followed up with one of his biggest tours, where most nights he was accompanied on stage by up to eight musicians.
In 2006 he began a new project, Maktoub, with his Moroccan friend Lekbir Halili and performed together at several shows.
