1950s-1960s R&B group from Detroit, Michigan.
Formed in 1952 as The Thrillers (6). Later became The Five Jets, then The Five Stars (5).
In mid 1958 the changed their name to Voice Masters, temporarily adding, future Temptations member Melvin Franklin to the lineup of Joe Murphy, CP Spencer, Walter Gaines, Henry Jones and John Raymond Dorsey. Under the guidance of Billy Davis (2) they signed with Anna Records named after Berry Gordy's sister Anna Gordy.
Dorsey departed the group for The Royal Jokers (2). Ty Hunter was added the the group, and with a few more lineup changes they eventually evolved into The Originals.
