Johnny Gimble (born May 30, 1926, near Tyler, Texas, USA - died May 9, 2015, Dripping Springs, Texas, USA) was an American country musician associated with Western Swing. He was an award-winning fiddle player and considered one of the most important fiddlers in the genre's history. Brother of Jerry Gimble, father of Dick Gimble. Awarded a National Heritage Fellowship as a Master Folk Artist from the National Endowment for the Arts (1994) Inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame in the Early Influences category as part of Bob Wills and his Texas Playboys (1999) Named State Musician for the state of Texas and inducted into the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame (2005). Posthumously inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame (2018)
