Jan van Eyck

Flemish painter (before c. 1395 – before 9 July 1441), active in Bruges and considered one of the best Northern European painters of the 15th century. Also called Johannes de Eyck. His older brother, Hubert van Eyck or Huybrecht van Eyck (c. 1385–90 – 18 September 1426), was also a painter.
