William Owen

Welsh composer of hymns (born December 12, 1813 in Bangor – died July 20, 1893 in Caeathro) William Owen worked in a slate quarry in Bethesda. He wrote a number of hymn tunes, including "Bryn Calfaria" (Calvary Hill), to which the gospel song "What Did He Do?" is sung.
