Polish jazz pianist and composer Born 10 January 1944, Antoniówka, Tomaszów Lubelski, Poland Died 31 May 1973, Warsaw, Poland. Classically trained, sometimes compared to Bill Evans, he was performing professionally in Kraków before he was aged 20. His trio debuted at Warsaw's Jazz Jamboree in October 1967 and returned to the event the following year. Only one album "Reminiscence" (recorded March 1971) was issued while he was alive. Blind for most of his life, he suffered from alcoholism and died accidentally or by taking his own life. He is the subject of a biography "Tylko smutek jest piekny. Opowiesc o Mieczyslawie Koszu" (in English: "Only Sadness Is Beautiful. The Story of Mieczysław Kosz", 2019) by Krzysztof Karpiński and a documentary film "Icarus. The Legend of Mietek Kosz" (originally "Ikar. Legenda Mietka Kosza", 2019).
