American composer of popular music (born June 23, 1874 in New York City - died March 13, 1966 in Dallas, Texas). Wrote popular ragtime songs and marches, including "The Colored Major" (1900), "Peter Piper" (1905), "S. R. Henry's Barn Dance" (1908), "By Heck" (1914) and "Indianola" (1917, with D. Onivas).
