German bass player born on August 28, 1942 in Babenhausen, Swabia, Germany; died November 3, 2015 in Hamburg. Father of Andreas Meid.
He went to Munich in the late 1950's, during the 1960's he played bass in Jazz combos and met Klaus Doldinger and joined his band Motherhood in 1968. The year after, he was co-founder of Krautrock collective Embryo. In 1971, he joined Amon Düül II, from 1973 to 1974, he also was part of the Munich supergroup 18 Karat Gold, which became in that time the backing band of Peter Maffay.
From 1975, he recorded solo works and worked as musician for Marius Müller‐Westernhagen. He also worked on a soundtrack for his movie "Theo gegen den Rest der Welt".
In the 1980's, he played and produced music with different Munich based bands, from the late 1980's he was part of revival and tribute bands of Amon Düül II.
