American blues guitarist and singer, born February 21, 1903 in Syracuse, North Carolina, died October 7, 1962 in Indianapolis, Indiana (shot to death in a back alley). Played on the majority of Leroy Carr's records 1928-1935, but also made recordings of his own during the same years. He was recorded again during his last years, a.o. an LP for Prestige/Bluesville.
