Popular Bengali Indian music composer, playback singer and actor, born 10 May 1905 in Calcutta, Bengal Presidency, British India, died 19 February 1978. He composed the music for around 100 films, also dedicated to the theory of music, he wrote four books on Indian classical music. Received the Dada Saheb Phalke award for his contribution to Indian cinema from the Indian government.
