Jazz Bassist / Tuba player Before his primary career as a music promoter began in the early 1960’s he was a double bass and tuba player with various jazz bands in England including Terry Lightfoot’s New Orleans Jazzmen, with Ginger Baker on drums. He also played with Ken Colyer and with the Alex Welsh Band. He toured with Louis Armstrong in Europe.HE went on to be a successful club promoter in the 60s-2000s , amongst which was Mod hangout The Blue Moon in Cheltenham .He was also credited with the concept of the "twin scene" nighjtclub ( two rooms or more with different music in each room !) when he started up the ground breaking discotheque The Brunel Rooms in Swindon.
