In 2001, Marty Anderson's Crohn's disease got worse which made him housebound. So in 2002, Marty started to work on his solo project which ended up being Low Road and High Road, both released in 2005 under Okay. Marty likes to record a lot of songs so he has a lot of them sitting there, both records and the following one were made by categorizing the unreleased songs into themes, where High Road was about the positive songs and Low Road was more on the negative aspect. Huggable Dust was all the love songs, the record would release in 2008 and was the last record put out on Absolutely Kosher. In 2015, Marty released release 35323432 under Okay which included another few unreleased songs of his.
Okay could be considered a band where the only permanent member is Marty himself, live performances of Okay occurred in which Marty would gather some of his friends to play the songs, this is where that "band" part comes in.
Also was introduced on the Absolutely Kosher website under Marty - Okay USA (to differentiate from the other Okay band that existed) later just turned to Okay.
