Romanian bassist, born February 19, 1968 in Constanța, brother of the no less famous Ovidiu Bădilă, is one of the most important bass guitarists in Europe for the last 30 years. Initially received violin lessons but switched to the double bass in 1975. At just eleven years old, he won first prize at the National Festival as a solo double bassist. He also played the electric bass from 1984 onwards. As early as 1986, he was voted the best bassist in Romania by leading music magazines.
Decebal returns to Romania invited by leading Romanian musicians. Established on the jazz scene immediately after his late brother Ovidiu Bădilă, he left for Germany in 1990, at his urging, where he completed his musical studies and from where his international “assault” began. Directly influenced by pianist Eugen Ciceu “Cicero”, with whom he played since 1994, after a special concert in Bucharest.
Since 1997, he has been the bassist of the SWR Big Band, with whom he has recorded numerous programs and performed throughout Europe with international jazz soloists such as Bob Mintzer, Rob McConnell, Sammy Nestico, Toshiko Akiyoshi, Ivan Lins, George Benson, Jacob Collier, Djamel Laroussi and Don Menza.
