Magdalena Samozwaniec

Magdalena Samozwaniec, née Kossak (26 July 1894, Kraków — 20 October 1972, Warsaw) was a Polish satirical writer, journalist, and columnist, a daughter of renowned painter Wojciech Kossak (1856—1942), granddaughter of Juliusz Kossak (1824—1899), and sister of poet Maria Pawlikowska-Jasnorzewska (1891—1945). She was the cousin of Polish writer and member of WWII resistance, Zofia Kossak-Szczucka (1889—1968), and great-aunt of poet, songwriter, and animator Rafał Podraza (b. 1977). With Samozwaniec ("Impostor") as her literary pseudonym, Magdalena was also known as Starzewska (1921–28) and Niewidowska (after 1945), adopting the surnames of her first and second husband.
