Zofia Kossak-Szczucka (10 August 1889, Kośmin, Congress Poland — 9 April 1968, Bielsko-Biała, Poland), also known as Kossak-Szatkowska after her second marriage in 1925, was a Polish writer and prominent member of WWII resistance, actively engaged in assisting Polish Jews escaping the Holocaust. She was the daughter of Polish freedom fighter and activist Tadeusz Kossak (1857—1935), granddaughter of painter Juliusz Kossak (1824—1899), niece of painter Wojciech Kossak (1856—1942), her father's twin brother, and cousin of poets Maria Pawlikowska-Jasnorzewska (1891—1945) and Magdalena Samozwaniec (1894–1972). In 1943, she was arrested by the Nazi authorities and sent to Auschwitz concentration camp, but survived the Second World War.
