Ansel Guthrie

American bluegrass musician and songwriter. Born December 11, 1923 in Williamston, South Carolina, USA. Died April 6, 2007 (aged 83) in Anderson, South Carolina, USA. He began playing professionally as a teenager. He sang alto with the Carolina Quartet that was organized in 1937. The pianist and bass singer for this quartet was his father. His brother Clarage also sang with this group. Bluegrass music became his passion, and for more than 60 years.
