German keyboardist and producer in the Krautrock era, born March 12, 1953 in Cologne.
At the age of 15, he co-founded the Progressive Rock band Triumvirat and was leader of the band and its main songwriter. In 1974, the band became famous in the USA and Fritz moved to the USA until 1976. When the record company wanted to lead the band's music more to mainstream Rock, Fritz and Hans Bathelt came in conflict about the future of the band. Eventually, Fritz sacked all current musicians and set up the band with studio musicians. He ran the band until 1980, when he declared the end of Triumvirat.
In the 1980's, Fritz worked as studio musician, e.g. for Gänsehaut in 1984 and for Bad Boys Blue in 1987. In the 1990's, Fritz was producer for various artists and also released solo works.
Fritz was cousin of ex-bandmate Helmut Köllen, who was in the band from 1973-1975 as bassist and tragically died in 1977.
