The Orchestre des Pays de Savoie is a French chamber orchestra founded in 1984. The ensemble has 23 permanent members (19 strings, 2 oboes, and 2 horns) and gives more than 80 concerts a year in Savoie and Switzerland.
Throughout its history, the orchestra has performed in many prestigious venues, including the Auditorium de Lyon, the Salle Gaveau, Victoria Hall, the Moscow Conservatory, and other renowned venues around the world. To mark its 40th anniversary, the musicians also performed at the Bayreuth Festspielhaus, the temple of Wagnerian opera.
Over the decades, many internationally renowned soloists have collaborated with the orchestra, including François-Frédéric Guy, Renaud Capuçon, Gautier Capuçon, Tedi Papavrami, Amaury Coeytaux, Anne Gastinel, Sophie Karthäuser, Karine Deshayes, and Marianna Pizzolato.
Its current music director, Arie van Beek, also supports the younger generation of performers, such as Raphaëlle Moreau, Edgar Moreau, and the Trio Ernest.
Projects aimed at young audiences also explore other genres, notably jazz with trumpeter Erik Truffaz. A regular guest at festivals, the orchestra is also developing a recording career that reflects its deep connection to the region.
