Jordan Shapiro is a New York/Hudson Valley based multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, bandleader and composer. He has been working as a professional musician in the greater New York City area since 1999.
From 2000 – 2003 he toured full time as keyboardist/vocalist for Frank Zappa tribute band Project/Object, featuring former Zappa band members such as Ike Willis and Napoleon Murphy Brock. This experience brought him to every corner of the country, performing at theatres such as Great American Music Hall (SF,CA), Fox Theater (Boulder, CO), Fox Theater (Atlanta,GA) and Irving Plaza (NYC).
Since 2003, he has led the progressive bluegrass band Astrograss, performing for multiple years at the Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival. They released 3 full length CDs since 2005. In 2011 he founded the electric Balkan folk-jazz fusion group Choban Elektrik and released their debut record in 2012.
