Luis Ferrer

Spanish conductor and writer (December 13, 1924, Caldes de Malavella - May 3, 1980). Founder of Orquesta Maravella. He came from a musical family, his father and grandfather built and rented pianos and punched rolls to play them. Lluís began to study music with Francesc Civil and priest Francesc Geli . After the war he played in the cobla-orchestra "Melodia" (1939), during his military service he played in the military band "Alcantara 33" of the Girona garrison and he played in the orchestras "Unión Farnense" (1946) and directed the Cobla Orquestra Els Montgrins (1945-1951). Above all, he is known for founding Orquestra Maravella along with his brother Josep and his cousin Narcís Vendrell in his native town of Caldes de Malavella in 1951. He also recorded several albums of sardanas .
